Not long ago, German Heraeus group used additive manufacturing technology to produce the world’s largest amorphous metal parts, which were exhibited at the automatic 2019 in Chicago. It is reported that Heraeus used patented metal powder to print gears with a height of 65mm and a diameter of 110mm in a standard SLM (selective laser melting) system. This “record setting 3D printing amorphous gear” is hailed by Heraeus as a milestone in additive manufacturing, which means that 3D printing technology has gained more application possibilities in the fields of aerospace, medical technology and automobile manufacturing.
